I can’t decide if I’m offended…

The other civilian in my NPS class told me today that I should join the military because it’s my best chance at a job, and I would have better qualifications once I get out of the military. Plus, she said, if nothing else, I could serve my four years and probably get a second Master’s out of it.

Why can’t I decide if I’m offended? I suppose the job market is in bad shape right now… but still. She doesn’t know what my qualifications are or what my chances for jobs are. Maybe I have all kinds of federal agencies and private sector companies begging me to come work for them. (I don’t, but that’s beside the point.) She probably meant well though.

In any case, I’m guessing that if I got the military to send me for a second Master’s (and I don’t want that… I am SO over school right now), I would have to commit to serving a lot more than 4 years.

I’m now in Vermont, where I will be immersing myself in Russian and speaking no English until August 16.

Anything posted here will have to be in Russian, so I probably will not be posting anything (maybe on our spring break day…haha. We’ll see).
