Post Card Swap!

A while ago, Jessica Lynn announced the You’ve Got Snail Mail Post Card Swap 2012 and it sounded like fun (because really, who doesn’t like getting things in the mail? I sign up for free samples of stuff just so I can get fun stuff in the mail sometimes!) so I signed up.

I got matched up with Tessa who blogs at Ciao, Blogga. Tessa is awesome and if you’ve never checked out her blog, you should head over there and say hello!

So here are the postcards I got from Tessa:

That’s Tessa and her husband in their new house in Italy! They sent out that postcard when they moved to Italy

And that’s Tuscany, which looks gorgeous! I want to go to Italy right now.

Thanks for brightening up my day (twice!) Tessa :)

Oh, and to answer your question – yes, I have to been Europe (we went to Dublin last year), but I’ve never been to Italy! And if ever I make it over there, we will definitely have to meet up :)

Wordless Wednesday

We Now Return to Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

I’ve been gone for a while, off globe trotting – er, US trotting. Here’s the whirlwind recap:

Stop 1: Palm Springs, CA for my sister’s bachelorette party!

My sisters, my sister’s BFF and me on the way to Palm Springs.

Stop 2: Halloween in Torrance, CA.

I was Rosie the Riveter! Too bad I left Chris’s coveralls in Georgia.

Stop 3: Coronado, CA because I love the area.

No words needed here.

We also played around at the Del – so pretty! Someday we will stay there… but this was the not time.

I met up with Kelsey and Elizabeth for lunch too! And by the way, at Stacked –the restaurant we ate at– you order your food on an iPad at your table! It’s pretty amazing. We had such a good time and it made me start harassing Chris to get orders to SD again. (Yeah, that’s not going to happen.)

Stop 4: Long Beach, CA for my sister’s wedding

I inadvertently made Chris look like a Hogwarts student. We called him Ron Weasley all morning… haha!

Isn’t my sister pretty? :) And you can’t tell in this picture, but her husband is actually over a foot taller than her!

Stop 5: Hollywood, CA to play tourist because Chris had never been before.

The Beatles (Minus Paul, who doesn’t have a star for some reason)

Gene Rodenberry – 10 points if you know who this guy is!

Stop 6: Back in Augusta for a day, then we packed up the dogs and headed to Nashville to explore…

We laughed at this sign for a while so I took a picture. Church street this way, Gay street the other way. (Yeah, I’m a little odd…)

Stop 7: Then off to my MIL’s house in Louisville for pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving and Veterans Day.

Applebee’s had a POW/MIA table set up. I thought it was such a thoughtful gesture, and I was glad to see all the non-military affiliated people stopping to read what it symbolized.

It’s been a busy busy month, so you can see why I haven’t been around much! But now we’re back in Georgia and I’m super glad I told Chris that I just want to stay here for Christmas and not go anywhere :)

FALL!

I did this post last year and it made me happy, so I’m doing it again. And yes, Pumpkin Pie Blizzards are on both but there’s a reason for that: they’re amazing.

Leaves Turning

Pumpkin Pie Blizzard

Andrew Luck

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Apple Cider

Army-Navy Game

Seasonal Coffee Creamer

Pumpkin Delights

Pumpkin Patch

As you read, I’m walking the dogs in the crisp morning down at the canal while eating a pumpkin donut and drinking an iced pumpkin latte from Dunkin Donuts.

What’s your favorite part of fall?

Memory Lane: College Edition

While I was looking for a picture of me from my 21st birthday, I came across my CD of pictures from college. Sadly, I’ve lost touch with most of my friends from college. I didn’t think I would, but I guess it just happened. Anyway, here’s some of my favorite pictures from college:

I thought about captioning these pictures, but decided against it because then I’d have to explain what things like special dinner, Exodus party, Sunsplash, Movalsaic, and Ovalstone are. But I bet you’re wondering anyway now… ;)

This was fun! Maybe next I’ll do Memory Lane: Grad School edition.

Wordless Wednesday: Tough Puppy

Every time I look at this puppy, I smile. And then I want a Shiba Inu.

Just a Picture: You Know You’re a Milspouse When…

Prescription Bottle

Yep, that instructs me to take the medicine not with breakfast or dinner or with food in general, but with morning or evening chow.

Surprise Video Chats

I’ve had the opportunity to talk to Chris online this week and it’s been nice to see and hear him. Unfortunately, the video camera on his laptop doesn’t always work, so I’ve gotten used to looking at the generic blue silhouette. This morning, however, when I accepted his video call, I saw this:

He claims he has no idea how that happened. What the heck, Google Chat?

We Heart It Wednesday: Detroit Red Wings

I don’t even know if the We Heart It Wednesday is still going, but I’m going to do it anyway!

Here’s something you might not know about me: I love hockey. My first date with Chris was at a San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks game.

And more specifically, I love the Detroit Red Wings. You may be wondering why I love the Detroit Red Wings, given that I was born and raised in LA, which has its own hockey team. The answer to that? A fanatical Kings fan for an older sister who was tired of me copying her and a hot captain by the name of Steve Yzerman. I also have an irrational hatred of the Colorado Avalanche (ok, that’s not so irrational), the St. Louis Blues (partially based on a hatred of Brett Hull), and the Mighty Ducks (but not the movies, I love the movies).

Steve Yzerman. See? Hot.

Ozzie and Roy. I hate Patrick Roy (see above, where I said I hate the Avs). But I love fighting goalies.

Nicklas Lidstrom. Not a bad replacement for Stevie Y. when he retired.

I had a poster of Shanahan in my room when I was in high school.

I need to get back into hockey. And I need to go to Detroit and see a game.

Things I Wish Didn’t Exist

A list, in no particular order.

Ticks.

Hot cars in the summer.

(Lesson learned from last summer — I now value shade over proximity to my destination when selecting parking spots)

Giant spiders.

Humidity.

Canned Tuna.

Mosquitoes.

Puppy mills.

Just a little randomness for Friday.

Do you agree with any of these? What do you wish didn’t exist?
