This Wednesday is my PRT. Wednesday at 9 am. I’m nervous and not sure what’s going to happen. I’m ok on the push ups… not as good as I would like to be, but I can definitely meet–and probably pass–my standard (19). I have to hit good low on all the categories. I think I can probably get to at least good medium (26) for the push ups, and possibly a good high (30).
Running is my enemy. It makes my arms cramp up (I swear I am not clenching my fists, or scrunching my shoulders!) and my nose run and just bleh. I hate it. My standard for the run is 14:53… I’ve been consistently within 10 seconds of that for awhile. Usually on the 10 seconds too slow unfortunately. On Saturday I ran it in 14:42 (yay for sub 10 minute mile!), which is almost at Good Medium (14:30). I’ve done it once so I should be able to do it again. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. I’m going to run again tomorrow, and probably Tuesday morning (if not on the track, then definitely on the treadmill).
Sit ups are also my enemy. Not because my abs get tired, but because for some reason whenever I do sit ups, I manage to rub a spot at the bottom of my spine raw. Theoretically I should be able to say screw that, my abs still work! and just keep going… but consistently rubbing a raw spot against a piece of material makes the raw spot burn and sting and you just want it to stop. I bought some cushioned band-aids to put over the spot and they helped. I need to hit 54. I’ve done it before. Probably not going to hit Good Medium (62). I just did 62 sit ups, so I should be able to score Good Medium on Wednesday.
I’m trying not to worry about it, because at this point there’s not much I can do to improve. I’m either going to be able to do it or I won’t. Since my recruiter keeps saying “We’ll just run a PRT and see where you’re at,” I’m guessing that if I don’t pass this one, it will just be a blow to my ego and not the end of the road to OCS. Still, I would really prefer to pass it. I’ve been working so hard at this, I’m kind of frustrated that I’m not positive I’m going to pass with flying colors. I know that I’ve improved since I started working out, but I really would have liked to improve faster… still, physical stuff has never been my forte. I think that’s why I’m so determined to make it my forte.
However I do this Wednesday, when I get to OCS, I will be at the Excellent High (91 curl-ups, 41 push-ups, 12:30 1.5 mile run), so when I graduate, I can be at Outstanding High (101 c/u, 46 p/u, 10:17 run).

How did this go? I'm so out of the loop now that I never go on facebook.
It went lovely
Now I just have to pass another one 30 days before my ship date, whenever that might be. My recruiter told me that I could ship as early as the end of June! I was not ready for that…
Wow… that is really soon!
